Dr. Falon Thacker

Consultant

“The greatest form of activism is to be a living example of the type of people you’d like to see walking this earth.”

Dr. Falon Thacker (she/her) is a consultant at Cook Ross. As an experienced senior leader and educator, she brings 10+ years of experience managing and leading teams through change and crisis.

Her formal training as a counselor educator and researcher, with a focus on multicultural and social justice competence, informs her work as a Consultant. It allows her to work alongside clients in integrating and breaking down academic inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility (IDEA) concepts into everyday tangible skills. She believes that our liberation is tied together because oppression hurts us all, not just those who are oppressed and/or marginalized. She is convinced that liberation begins when people can see the world through someone else’s eyes and are willing to build meaningful relationships with people who are different than them.

Dr. Falon holds a Ph.D. from the University of Georgia in Counseling & Student Personnel Services with a graduate certificate in Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, which led to her working with a wide range of individuals and organizational segments to integrate IDEA into talent acquisition, operational policies/procedures, performance management, and leadership areas of companies. Conversely, as an educator, she creates a presentation and facilitation experience that is inclusive and engaging for various learners.

Not only is Dr. Falon is a published author in IDEA scholarly research with an emphasis on recommendations for practicing IDEA in our everyday lives as leaders and people, but she is also a certified trainer for several talent acquisition, cultural competency, and personality assessment tools and a certified volunteer for the Florida Crisis Response Team (FCRT) with the National Organization of Victims Assistance (NOVA) who mobilize to respond to mass casualty events and natural disasters. She also holds an M.Ed. from the University of Florida and a B.A. from the University of Kentucky.

Dr. Falon was nominated and won several awards while serving in higher education, including two regional awards for Outstanding Mentor and New Professional of the Year. Additionally, she was selected to participate in a national higher education public policy institute. It was during this time that she lobbied Congress to advocate for social justice issues impacting college students, including Title IX, DACA, and financial aid for HBCUs and MSIs.

Outside of fighting for justice alongside others, you can find Dr. Falon on the beach soaking up the sun with her partner, exploring walking trails, devouring a new thriller and suspense novel, pushing herself to new heights at Orange Theory Fitness, making great use of her Disney World pass, or just keeping up with her favorite shows on Bravo TV.
