Janna Hines (She/Her)

      Consultant

It is not our differences that divide us. It is our inability to recognize, accept, and celebrate those differences.”

Audre Lorde

Janna Allen Hines is a Consultant at Cook Ross. Her journey in the IDEA space stems from early experiences growing up in varying locations where she felt the constant need to shapeshift and codeswitch in order to build friendships and survive in her evolving environments. It wasn’t until Janna joined a debate team during high school, which prompted her to discover her true voice, that she realized the power behind creating inclusive environments for others.

At the heart of Janna’s work, she desires to transfigure her experiences with racism and feeling “othered” into fuel that will guide her as she takes on a holistic and accountable approach to IDEA work. As Janna navigates the roots of systemic forces, she considers the history of marginalized groups and believes once we define the issue then we can be more intentional in moving toward a solution. Janna’s work specializes in race equity, unconscious bias, and the intersection of religion and racial justice.

Her accomplishments range from being on cool nationally syndicated podcasts as a guest speaker to being Concordia University-Portland’s Commencement Speaker. When Janna is not out inspiring large crowds through her passion-work, you can find her at a dance class in NC or enjoying good food with her husband and their puppy.
