Jessica Lynn Thompson (She/Her)
With over a decade of focused and committed work in Higher Education and corporate working environments she is able to model, support, and facilitate connectedness, growth, and self-awareness amongst and within human beings and communities. As a certified IDEA practitioner, she believes that Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility in its simplest form is the intentional consideration of individuals and collectives.
Jessica’s journey of self-discovery started by securing a BA in Communications from Michigan State University, and from there she took her skills and talents to the University of Michigan where she fell in love with IDEA at the W.M. Trotter Multicultural Center. Which later positioned her to be a part of the team that institutionalized and opened the Maize and Blue Cupboard; where she was able to amplify the realities of food insecurity amongst college-aged students, faculty and staff; as well as, prioritize and provide resources and solutions (she often teases that she is the real Michigan Difference!) From there she chose Concordia University Ann Arbor’s SPAHE (Student Personnel Administration in Higher Education) Program to pursue her M.S. Ed, after all, for Jessica, she believes that there is power in the journey; because that yields the most rewards.
Jessica’s life calling and passion is to provide the space, knowledge, and opportunities for the people in her life to reach their full capacity! She believes that every human is able to become the very best version of themselves and with the right level of support and empowerment, it’s more than possible! In her spare time, she enjoys creating moments and memories with family and friends, raising her daughter, and exploring entrepreneurship through the lens of events, experiences, and productions.
